Waterjet Cutting

DWR Fabrications can offer speedy precision cutting of sheet metal and numerous other materials through its state-of-the-art OMAX 55100 Waterjet machine.

From simple shapes to the most intricate of designs, we can accommodate any requirement within a sheet size of 2500mm x 1375mm (100” x 55”)

What is Waterjet Cutting?

The Waterjet is arguably the most versatile cutting method in the world.

Materials are cut by sending an extremely high pressure jet of water, or water and abrasive such as garnet, through the nozzle of the cutting head.

The head is programmed to follow designs uploaded to the machine’s computer operating system.

Which materials can be cut by Waterjet?

The answer is “an infinite variety of materials”.

We specialise in metal, but are equally competent in producing custom-made pieces in the following materials:

  • ABS
  • Acetal
  • Acrylic
  • Aluminium
  • Brass
  • Bronze
  • Carbon Steel
  • Carpets

The Benefits Of Waterjet Cutting

Materials

Virtually any sheet material can be cut using this method (with the exception of toughened glass and diamond).

Materials from 45cm to a few millimetres thick can be cut with ease

Cut without heat damage to source material

Waterjet cutting does not have a heat source, so metals and other materials can be cut without harming or changing their intrinsic properties

Detailed Design Possibility

The kerf (width of cut) can be adjusted to suit the job in hand, as can the size and type of abrasive. The more detailed the design, the narrower the kerf and finer the abrasive.

Accurate Cold manufacture

The finished piece is cold, so can be handled immediately.
Multi-batch or single items can be manufactured quickly and accurately. Typical tolerance is +/-0.1mm
